Politically Correct
I've had it with the term "politically correct". It's only invoked when someone says something that gets them in trouble. Then they are surprised that people want to hold them accountable for their words. Complaining about political correctness is really an attempt to avoid consequences for ill will & offensive language. Political correctness isn't the problem. Your language is symptomatic of a bigger issue, & that is your view of the world that lead you to believe you could use that type of language free of all consequences. So you have a problem with accepting responsibility, not political correctness. ... Read More ...
The Black Family
Another amazing piece of journalism from Ta-Nehisi Coates for The Atlantic. His article takes a comprehensive look at "the black family", mass incarceration, & a notorious report about the black family commissioned by a white senator for Pres Nixon in the 1960's. This article is important because we can not take our politicians to task on the current state of our criminal justice system if we don't know what led us to this point. We must arm ourselves with facts to counter people like Bill O'Reilly who tries to shift blame away from institutional racism as the biggest factor in mass incarceration & blame it on the decrease of 2 parent black households. ... Proof Of Racial Profiling
Police officers in Kalamazoo Michigan were forced to face an ugly reality: concrete data that they were racially profiling residents. The yearlong study by Lamberth Consulting, which specializes in racial profiling assessments, examined police stops at 12 different locations in the city of 75,000 starting in March 2012, and found that black motorists were more than twice as likely to be stopped as white drivers. And even though whites were more likely to be found with contraband like guns and drugs, far more blacks were searched, handcuffed and arrested. Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley, who ... Read More ...
Shutdown Blame Game

As some of you may know, I love a good facebook debate about politics. I have a smart and very diverse group of friends in terms of race, ideology, and political affiliation. I didn’t know how rare that was until I read a Reuters poll a few months ago that revealed 40 percent of white Americans and 25 percent ofRead the Rest…

Economic Incest

As surely as rape is about power, not sex, income inequality is about power, not money. Forcing women to have babies against their will is about power, not babies. Forcing women to have babies even if it endangers the mother is about absolute power. Controlling who can vote and who cannot is about power, not political ideals. And forcing hungryRead the Rest…

Conservative Media Lies

When will conservatives stop listening to conservative media (Fox News & Limbaugh) and conservative politicians? How many times do they have to be wrong before their base starts to question their credibility? I know most liberals are well aware of the many conservative media lies that show up frequently in their reporting, but for those who watch conservative media exclusivelyRead the Rest…

ILLUMINATI CONSPIRACY?

I’ve noticed something very strange and troubling going on in African American social media and entertainment blogs. I’ve watched it grow over the past year hoping it would die down and people would come to their senses but surprisingly it has only grown bigger and it’s beginning to cross over into mainstream media. I’m talking about the myth of theRead the Rest…

NO JUSTICE FOR TRAYVON

The verdict for the George Zimmerman trial is in and a jury of his peers has found him not guilty of murder 2 as well as not guilty of manslaughter. Although I am saddened and deeply disappointed in this verdict, if you look at how the law is written and the instructions given to this jury I do not thinkRead the Rest…

Huge Week For Supreme Court

This has been a huge week for our prestigious Supreme Court. Â They delivered monumental rulings that will dramatically change this great country. The Will Of The People

When President Barack Obama won reelection in 2012, he made a number of promises that captivated progressives and made us all hopeful once again. We all knew these were very big ideas and would not come easy at all, but when the President has the will of the people on his side and a crumbling economic structure where only aRead the Rest…

My Dad

Quite often fathers are the unsung hero’s of a family’s success. I’m not really sure why because their job is just as important as a mother’s… and sometimes even harder. But there is a silver lining to the disproportionate recognition, and it’s called Father’s Day. Every year at this time we get a chance to recognize, celebrate, and praise theRead the Rest…
