Politically Correct
I've had it with the term "politically correct". It's only invoked when someone says something that gets them in trouble. Then they are surprised that people want to hold them accountable for their words. Complaining about political correctness is really an attempt to avoid consequences for ill will & offensive language. Political correctness isn't the problem. Your language is symptomatic of a bigger issue, & that is your view of the world that lead you to believe you could use that type of language free of all consequences. So you have a problem with accepting responsibility, not political correctness. ... Read More ...
The Black Family
Another amazing piece of journalism from Ta-Nehisi Coates for The Atlantic. His article takes a comprehensive look at "the black family", mass incarceration, & a notorious report about the black family commissioned by a white senator for Pres Nixon in the 1960's. This article is important because we can not take our politicians to task on the current state of our criminal justice system if we don't know what led us to this point. We must arm ourselves with facts to counter people like Bill O'Reilly who tries to shift blame away from institutional racism as the biggest factor in mass incarceration & blame it on the decrease of 2 parent black households. ... Proof Of Racial Profiling
Police officers in Kalamazoo Michigan were forced to face an ugly reality: concrete data that they were racially profiling residents. The yearlong study by Lamberth Consulting, which specializes in racial profiling assessments, examined police stops at 12 different locations in the city of 75,000 starting in March 2012, and found that black motorists were more than twice as likely to be stopped as white drivers. And even though whites were more likely to be found with contraband like guns and drugs, far more blacks were searched, handcuffed and arrested. Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley, who ... Read More ...
Politics vs Celeb Culture & Health Care
Politics VS Celeb Culture Everyone knows I’m a political junkie. I follow politics like most guys follow sports. Up until a few weeks ago, a majority of my blog entries were about politics. Unfortunately I’ve had to abandon that angle for a while in order to pursue other interests, projects, and business opportunities. In other words, writing about politics allRead the Rest…

E Lynn Harris – The Passing Of A Brilliant Author
I was very troubled to hear about the passing of Mr. Harris. To me he was more than just an author. He helped me see that being an out gay black male was possible. The way I first discovered his writing was kind of serendipitous. I was a very unhappy closeted college freshman at East Carolina University. I’ve always hadRead the Rest…

Sign This Petition To Investigate Bush & Cheney
Newsweek reported Saturday that Attorney General Eric Holder is considering appointing a prosecutor to investigate whether the Bush administration illegally tortured terrorism suspects. You can find a link to that article here: http://www.newsweek.com/id/206300 A decision is expected in the next few weeks. Ousting the Ayatollah (Iran’s Uprising)
For the last 48 hours, I’ve been glued to CNN watching the political unrest unfold in Iran. If anyone has ever doubted the power and usefulness of the Internet and social networking sites, now is the time to say “I TOLD YOU SO”. If it weren’t for these new tools of communication, I really don’t think we’d know what theRead the Rest…

Let’s See The Homophobic Evangelicals Explain This One.
I have two words for you; GAY PENGUINS. Yes, you heard me; GAY freakin’ PENGUINS. I guess I should explain. I was reading one of my favorite blogs “The Huffington Post”, and I see a headline that reads “Two Gay Penguins Raising A Chick”. Of course my first thought was WTF?!? Then I read the story, and in a way,Read the Rest…

Olberman gives Gay Marriage some Perspective
Out of all the arguments, articles, books, pundit sparring, cable news segments, and verbal jousting for and against Gay marriage; no one has captured and conveyed the thoughts and feelings of frustration from the Gay community better than MSNBC’s Keith Olberman. I’m a loyal viewer of his show, but somehow this clip got by me. It was taken from aRead the Rest…

GAY MARRIAGE RIGHTS
As I watch what’s going on in our country played out in every current form of media you can think of, I began to see something in the human spirit that’s very dark, evil, and innately insecure. Proposition 8 in California is a bill that says marriage can only be defined as one man and one woman, which basically saysRead the Rest…

11 Year Old Hangs Himself Because of Bullies Calling Him Gay
When I first heard this story last night, I got physically ill. I had to turn the tv off because I felt an eruption of emotion waiting to explode up out of me and manifest itself in the form of violence. Words can not describe how horrible all of this is. It made me angry, upset, vengeful, and hurt allRead the Rest…

Talking to Satan?
Before I get into this blog entry, let me preface it with this statement: Although I’m not what most would consider a religious type person, I am a spiritual person. I do believe in God and I totally respect everyone’s personal beliefs and religious affiliations (Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindu, Buddhist, etc. etc.). I do have a problem with anybody thatRead the Rest…

Illicit: The Dark Trade
As most of you already know, I love to watch documentaries. Mostly documentaries dealing with something political, criminal, or world history related. Last night I couldn’t sleep (like always), and so I decided to look for something to watch online. I have netflix, and a couple of other sites that I like to use to find movies and television showsRead the Rest…
